 | Freytag-Loringhoven, Lt Gen Baron Alexander von - DEDUCTIONS FROM THE WORLD WAR(Constable, London
, 1918) vi, 176 Pages Written by the then Deputy Chief of the Imperial General Staff of the German Army in World War I, von Freytag-Loringhoven (1849 - 1926). Of particular interest in that, even a year before the end of hostilities and the Versailles Treaty that decimated Germany`s military power, it predicts that Germany can not win the present war yet will win the inevitable next world war and explains the need for Germany to regain her strength to fulfil that destiny. It ends with chilling words: `In the future, as in the past, the German people will have to seek firm cohesion in its glorious army and its belaurelled young fleet.` His son (?) Wessel von F-L was one of the anti-Hitler plotters with von Stauffenberg and committed suicide after the failure of the bomb plot to assassinate the Fuhrer. Good.
