“Many Australians who volunteered for service in the Royal Australian Navy in the early, desperate days of World War II were trained in Australia & immediately seconded for service overseas in the Royal Navy. For this reason they are not mentioned in books written about RAN ships, yet they served in many actions, notably in HM trawlers, corvettes & destroyers escorting convoys in the Battle of the Atlantic.Recollection by the author, augmented by three years of research, has resulted in this fascinating account of the striving together by young men of many countries toward victory in the greatest sea war in history.”
