Memoirs of an indigenous northern Queensland family. Traces three generations of Edie Wrights' family. Alfred Brown, her grandfather, was taken from his mother at the age of four and placed in Mapoon Mission. Eventually, as a young married man employed by the mission, he was sent to the far north-west Kimberley. Following the death of his wife he was determined to keep his family together despite unsympathetic government policies. Contains photos, map and bibliography. Author was born in Broome, has a Diploma in Education and is currently Principal at Wangkatjunka Remote Community School.
