WEST AUSTRALIANA ABORIGINAL Music –
-
From 1946 to 1960, in Perth, W.A., the Coolbaroo Club was a meeting place and a community focus for the local Aboriginal community. Best remembered for its popular dances, the Coolbaroo League also ran a newspaper and became an effective political organisation, speaking out on issues of the day affecting Aboriginal people. Through the story of the club and its members, the film examines postwar race relations in Australia.
