Set in the mid-west of Western Australia in the period late 1800s to mid-1900s, A matriarch and the murchison traces the life of a woman who succeeded in a male centric world. A competent and skilled businesswoman who was born in an era, and achieved in an era, in which women were not entitled to be in business let alone succeed. It was an era that had been such,that a woman could not own land, could not sign cheque’s, and could not vote.
