Biggles Air Detective by W. E. Johns was first published in 1950 by Hodder and Stoughton. There have been at least 16 subsequent editions in the English language. The events in the book take place in the immediate post-war period in various locations. Historically, this book contains the first stories where the Special Air Police become involved in what might be said to be routine domestic police work, as opposed to long distance missions going after international criminals.
Biggles Air Detective was the first collection of short stories written about Biggles in the Air Police and consists of seven stories:

The Case of the Black Sheep
The Case of the Visiting Sultan
The Case of the Unregistered Operator
The Case of the Wounded Agent
The Case of the Brilliant Pupil
The Case of the Murdered Apprentice
The Case of the Stolen Aircraft
