AUSTRALIAN ART AND CRAFT
As a memorial to Tom Malone, the prize was established in 2003 by his wife, Elizabeth Malone, to nurture and develop contemporary Australian glass art and artists. The prize is an acquisitive award managed by the Art Gallery of Western Australia; each year’s winning work enters the Gallery’s permanent collection where it is accessible for generations to come. The Tom Malone Prize has ensured that glass art remains a visible and important strand of the landscape of contemporary Australia art.
