The Wunambal Gaambera Healthy Country Plan is a conservation project based in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia (WA).

The conservation project is based on a healthy country plan, developed by the Traditional Owners of the region, the Wunambal Gaambera people. The planning process involved wildlife surveys, land management work, as well as on country workshops attended by family groups to discuss management targets, threats and strategies.

The framework was developed to assist the Wunambal Gaambera people to:

• articulate in modern contexts the principal values of healthy country and how to maintain those values
• manage and look after lalai (creation) places in the ways of Wanjina Wunggur cultural responsibilities and values
• enjoy, live on, gain sustenance and manage Wunambal Gaambera country, land and sea as one country
• raise their capacity to meet their cultural responsibilities and manage country on their own terms.
