Personal account describing Melbourne and the Victorian goldfields at the height of the goldrush in the 1850s by the French photographer, Antoine Fauchery ; occasional references to squatters’ treatment of Aboriginal people.

The book was first published in French, Paris: Poulet-Malassis et De Broise, 1857. This edition of the book was translated from the French by A R Chisholm.
