In this fascinating book, a dedicated team of researchers has selected a generous sample of such surprising moments — stretching from penal settlements days to contemporary times — locating them not only in their past milieu but also in relation to their present physical locales, identified largely at familiar landmarks around the central business district of the city. The volume serves the multiple purpose of a secret history , a subversive heritage primer and an alternative tourist guide. It will make you see Brisbane through different eyes as the radical visions and wild skirmishes of long ago are revisited in unexpected places; and so much has remained hidden is once again revealed.
