From Bon Scott to Johnny Young, from Western Australia to the national arena, Jive, Twist and Stomp is a backstage pass into the lives and music of Western Australia’s pioneers of popular music. John Mills and Murray Gracie are part of a generation of musicians who rocked Western Australia in the 50s and 60s. Despite its tiny population, the energetic Perth music scene spawned national stars and provided a well of musical inspiration for all who followed. Dug out from scrapbooks and shoeboxes, dusted off in basements across the state, these are the photos, stories and ephemera of over 350 bands and venues from the early days of rock & roll.
