The first comprehensive study of Western Australia’s colonial architecture. Examples of primitive Georgian style are illustrated from Perth, Rottnest Island, Albany and Busselton between 1829 and 1850. Fremantle and some country towns become the centre of interest during the Transitional Period 1850-1858 following transportation; while in the Third Period 1858-1885, attention centres on the capital city of Perth, whose decorated brickwork influenced colonial architecture throughout Western Australia.
