MOTOR CYCLES
BSA motorcycles are legendary British-engineered two-wheelers from the Birmingham Small Arms Company, known for their historical significance, engineering prowess, and racing heritage, including military use in WWII and global success in the mid-20th century. The brand went through a period of decline, ceasing operations in 1972, but was revived by the Indian Mahindra Group in 2016. Today, a new generation of BSA motorcycles, like the Gold Star and Bantam, are produced, continuing the brand’s legacy.Â
The company began as a firearms manufacturer but expanded into bicycles and eventually motorcycles in 1905, with the first wholly BSA-built motorcycle appearing in 1910.Â
By the 1950s, BSA was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, a significant player in both civilian and military markets, with notable racing successes.Â
The brand is deeply tied to British engineering and is celebrated by enthusiasts worldwide through rallies and events.Â
After a period of mismanagement, the company ceased operations in 1972. However, the brand was purchased by India’s Mahindra Group, which has since relaunched BSA with modern versions of classic models.Â
Iconic models include the sturdy M20, the versatile Bantam, and high-performance bikes like the Gold Star and Rocket 3.Â
The modern Gold Star is a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motorcycle with contemporary features like fuel injection and a five-speed gearbox.Â
The new Bantam 350 is another modern classic, offering a blend of retro styling and modern technology for a compelling package.Â
The BSA Scrambler aims to deliver a stylish retro experience with modern engineering, though reviews have noted some issues with its suspension and riding position.Â
