Detailed history of the steam locomotives built by the Norris family of Philadelphia. The Norris works produced more early locomotives than any other American company until Baldwin caught up around 1862. Moreover, they were exported widely to Europe (eceeded on by Robert Stephenson & Co.) and their designs were copied freely, influencing Steg, Guenther, Sigl, Borsig, Esslingen and Henschcel locomotives.
